Reconstituted Stone
Quantum Quartz®, Caesarstone® and other reconstitued stones are quartz based which ensures ease of maintenance and longevity of the surfaces. They will never require sealing and require very little maintenance to keep the surface looking like new. For everyday, routine cleaning, wipe the surface with warm soapy water (using a mild detergent) and a damp cloth or alternatively use a quality spray and wipe type cleaner. They will withstand exposure to tea, wine, vinegar, beetroot lemon juice and strongly coloured spices but it is best to wipe off immediately. For removal of extra stubborn dried spills and staiins use detergent neat with a soft damp cloth. To remove adhered materials like food, gum and nail polish, first scrape away the excess and use a mild detergent with warm water to remove it. Household bleach can generally be used as an effective cleaner to remove stubborn marks, but do not use scourer. Also, extra care should be taken as some products are considerably stronger than others.

Marble & Granite
Because of their porous composition, marble, granite and other natural stones are susceptible to staining, and their delicate colours can be altered when cleaned with unsuitable products. Strong detergents, corrosive liquids, powders or scouring can dull the polished marble or granite surface and should not be used. Overexposure to sunlight may also result in fading. Periodically wiping with clean water and a cloth is generally sufficient. Do not allow wine, ink, oil, fat, coke, coffee, fruit, red wine, flower stains and beetroot etc stay on surface a long time. Always clean up immediately. For embedded stains, spread a paste of moulding plaster and bleach (wearing rubber gloves) over the stain and allow to dry. Remove the paste and wash with clean water. You may require multiple treatments until the stain is fully removed.

Professional sealers have also been designed to protect your valuable marble or granite benchtops. When applied, the sealer penetrates into the pores and slowly expands thus partially sealing the surface so the moisture and staining liquids run off. After 3 hours, use a woollen pad to polish the surface vigorously. All sealer products are available from your marble or granite company. Caring for your natural stone surfaces correctly will help ensure their continued good looks.
